Lakshmi Lakshmanan

Immigration Attorney

Lakshmi has exclusively practiced immigration and nationality law for more than a decade. She has successfully represented numerous individuals and companies through various complex immigration pathways. Lakshmi’s attention to detail, responsiveness and personal attention to each case has shaped her strong reputation. Furthermore, Lakshmi understands the needs of immigrants as her family immigrated to the United States from Tamil Nadu, India. Lakshmi is fluent in Tamil.

Lakshmi handles both employment and family based immigration cases, which includes assisting companies sponsor foreign nationals and helping individuals apply for non-immigrant status, lawful permanent residency and citizenship in the United States. Lakshmi also represents clients in removal (deportation) proceedings before the immigration courts in Chicago, Illinois.

Lakshmi received her law degree from the University of Missouri – Columbia and a bachelors degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana – Champaign, where she was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa society and graduated cum laude. Lakshmi is admitted to practice law in Illinois and before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals (federal court). As our immigration laws are federal in nature, Lakshmi is able to assist clients in all 50 states in the United States and worldwide.

Lakshmi is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), Chicago Bar Association (CBA), Trusted Advisors Council (TAC) and Northshore LAW (NSLAW), a collaborative of women attorneys.

Lakshmi is recognized as an Illinois Super Lawyer in the field of Immigration and Nationality Law, has a 10.0 AVVO lawyer rating, was elected to be a Delegate to the Democratic National Convention and has been featured in various articles for her expertise in immigration law. Lakshmi is a frequent presenter on immigration law topics within the community and serves on non-profit boards, volunteers through her children’s schools and serves as pro-bono counsel for clients in need.
